About

About: "TheWritersCafe.org was relatively unknown just last winter and somewhere around the early spring of this year just a few short months ago, it jumped onto the Alexa ratings with a 20M rating. I was almsot embarrassed to be happy knowing that globally there were 20 Million other websites (globally) that were more popular than this one!

Yet to be rated gave me the push I needed, soon the rating came down to 18M then 12M, and I kept feeling prouder and prouder. Then it just kept leaping better and better, 6M, 4M. Then it kind of hovered for a while."

Making a directory writable by the webserver

Making a directory writable by the webserver: "I’ve used the phrase “writable by the webserver” numerous times throughout this blog, without ever bothering to explain in detail what this means. Yesterday, I received an email asking me exactly that, so I decided to finally write a post about it and use it as a reference whenever I use the aforementioned phrase. I’ll use Apache as an example webserver and a filesystem with Unix-like permissions. I’ll also try to keep the article as short as possible."

Facebook - The Competition Rules: " must be run through an application
If you’re going to run any sort of competition, this has to be run as an application, on the Facebook platform. You also have to adhere to their rules about where entry can take place. Facebook competition applications must sit either on the canvas page of the application itself, or sit in a separate tab of an application page."

Studying In Israel: How To Afford It

Studying In Israel: How To Afford It: "There is another scholarship, which is offered for students with a limited background in Jewish studies by Rabbi Benzion Klatzko, the national director of College Outreach. He offers some airfare and tuition scholarships for students to go to Israel on various programs. He can be emailed at sagewannabe@aol.com.

There is also funding available from the Jewish Federations across the country. Often, Federation grants are awarded if one promises to perform some sort of community service upon one's return. This is certainly a resource that should be fully explored. You can contact the local UJA-Federation of New York's Israel Experience Center at 800-64-ISRAEL or israelctr@ujafedny.org."

Studying In Israel: How To Afford It

Studying In Israel: How To Afford It: "MasaIsrael.org. There, one has the possibility of obtaining a $2,000 grant to study in Israel in a Masa-approved program. The scholarship is not necessarily based upon financial need; there are other factors, too. This scholarship program is an excellent resource and is awarded to very large numbers of applicants. Plus, many of the seminaries and yeshivas that young ladies and young men in the Five Towns/Far Rockaway area will attend are on the Masa-approved lists. The heyday of the Masa scholarships is now over, however; they used to award up to $10,000 per year."
